The Global Disaster Response team has been gathering information from HOPE worldwide Nepal and other contacts on the ground regarding the scale of the disaster and potential response options:
Severe Impact: Initial assessments indicate that more than 3,000 homes have collapsed in affected areas, leaving thousands displaced.
Access Cut Off: The bridge connecting Nuwakot and Rasuwa has been destroyed, limiting access to some of the hardest-hit communities.
Shelter Status: Displaced families are currently sheltering in relief camps, including sites at army grounds and local community locations.
Immediate Needs: Immediate needs identified by local partners include food supplies, medicines, and tarpaulins, with particular concern for children who have lost parents, elderly individuals, and pregnant women.
Relief Action Plan: HOPE worldwide Nepal has developed an initial response proposal and is continuing assessments as additional information becomes available.
Partner Collaboration: Local teams are also exploring opportunities for in-kind support through external partners, including organizations with an existing presence in Nepal.
